Hello friend. So glad you stopped by!
Who
I am a sewer, reader, and perpetual student who revels in everyday simplicity, obscure history facts, and–of course!–building a wardrobe that I love using thrifted and hand-made materials.
What
The Thoughtful Thrifter is my little way to share my projects, lessons learned, and ideas with the world. If you are interested in sustainable fashion, books, learning from someone else’s mistakes, words, creating new from old, and general shenanigans, than this is the obscure website for you!
Why
As a life-long lover of fashion and a major history nerd, it took me an embarrassing amount of time to figure out that these two worlds overlap quite a bit. Once I did, it was like the proverbial lightbulb lit up. Whether it was researching the fast fashion industry, reading about 19th century hair care, falling in love with bell bottoms, or wondering how the heck Elizabeth I got into those dresses, I came to realize that my two biggest interests could compliment each other.
Furthermore, I realized that there is nothing stopping me from implementing those things in the past that I admire into my own life. It took me another eternity to figure out that there might be other people interested in these things as well, but I finally did and set out to create a little corner in this vast internet where all these things could collide. That is the purpose behind the Thoughtful Thrifter, and I hope I accomplish it well.
